Puerto Pollensa is a small town on the northern tip of Majorca. The Port is host to a large Marina, many restaurants and bars, a fabulous square and Clickstay have a number of incredible villas in Puerto Pollensa available to hire. Having been to Puerto Pollensa before I can safely say that it is a fabulous place to visit for a perfect family holiday.
5 Reasons to plan a family holiday to Puerto Pollensa, Majorca:
Puerto Pollensa is set within a large & simply stunning horseshoe bay. It has long stretches of beautiful sandy beaches; a wonderful harbour lined with restaurants and bars and it has a rugged mountainous backdrop. It is quite simply stunning and certainly one of the most beautiful landscapes I have visited. The bay (a former fishing port), is lined with Palm & Pine Trees and it is the perfect place for an early morning or early evening family stroll. In the distance there are some lovely views of the Puerto Pollensa lighthouse & Alcudia.
Family Friendly Holidays in Majorca:
This little corner of Majorca has a quiet, peaceful & slow pace of life; this makes it the perfect retreat for a relaxing family break. It is quite the opposite to the lively party vibe found on the other side of the Island in Magaluf. There are many blue flag beaches in and around the bay and the main beach at Puerto Pollensa has a lifeguard in duty during set hours (season depending). One point to note is that they do charge for sunbeds – during our trip in June the fee was €22 for 2 sunbeds and 1 parasol per day; this would certainly add up if you planned to spend everyday at the beach! If you book a villa with a pool though this would not be an issue as you can spend the days lounging around the pool in the sunshine and spend the evening in one of the many local restaurants to have a nice rest from cooking!
Activities in Puerto Pollensa:
If you enjoy sports and would love to include them in your holiday plans then I would definitely consider Port De Pollensa. It has evolved into a major base for Cyclists and there are a whole host of cycle routes available. There are plenty of places to hire bikes from (including many of the local hotels) and there are many bars that welcome cyclists and are designated stops on cycle routes. We saw many families enjoying cycling together on our recent trip to Port De Pollensa. If water sports are more your thing then fear not as these are readily available at one of the local beaches a little further away from the harbour; when we arrived we were greeted by the sight of numerous kite surfers; it was a magnificent site.
Travel Time UK to Majorca:
We travelled to Puerto Pollensa from Stansted and the flight time was just 2 hours and 8 minutes. This was such a perfect flight time for travelling with a toddler as it was nice and quick! There are a number of ways to get from the airport to your villa ranging from private taxi to a pre booked coach shuttle.
Pollensa Town is about 7km from the Port and is easily reachable by bus or taxi. The Town of Pollensa is very upmarket and arty; it has plenty of shops and a market every Sunday. There is a large and very beautiful chapel situated at the top of the famous and very Instagramable Calvari steps.
We had the most amazing family holiday in Puerto Pollensa and will definitely return. If you are looking for a villa in Puerto Pollensa then head over to the clickstay website as they have really stunning family friendly villas in Puerto Pollensa available.Folllow
