This is a Collaborative Post
Valentine’s day is right around the corner. Did you forget? I have to admit that I almost did! With the children running around and post-holiday work still to be done, I’ve barely thought about an evening off, let alone romance! But it is still important to make time for yourself and the significant other in your life, no matter how busy you are, and Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity. Even if you don’t have much time or money there are loads of little things you can do to tell your special someone that you care. Try out some of these ideas this year to keep your romance fun, flirty and full of love!
1. Surprise at Work
Stopping by your partner’s workplace can be a happy surprise and a break in the monotony of a normal day. A little smile and an on-the-clock kiss is all it takes to let them know you care. If you want to go the extra mile, bring them their favourite lunch or a small gift!
2. Romantic Night In
Going to a restaurant on Valentine’s Day is overrated! Getting a reservation is a hassle, and the restaurants are always overcrowded. Instead, order in from a gourmet restaurant or takeaway that offers delivery in your area. Lay the table in elegant fashion, and buy a bottle of champagne as the icing on the cake. All this fanfare will still be much cheaper than a meal for two at a fancy restaurant!
3. Involve the Kids
Sometimes you just can’t get the kids out of the equation for a night of cuddling. That’s ok! Why not have them help out? Kids love to be involved in surprises and making their mummy or daddy happy and will gladly help out if they’re made to feel important. As a reward for helping, give them a special treat and let them choose a film to watch. This will afford you some alone time with your partner!
4. Hand Made Cards
If you’re trying to show your love but don’t have a lot of extra income, get crafty and make a card by hand for your special someone. All it takes is a creative mind and a little time to come up with a card that won’t just end up in the bin like all the others. Pouring your heart and soul into a personal creation will make your one-and-only feel extra special!
5. Personalise your Passion
Everyone else is going to the shop to by generic teddy bears and the same old boxes of chocolate. Why not do something a little different to make your partner feel uniquely loved? Personalised gifts are more affordable than ever, and they’re the perfect way to combine surprise, compassion and fun. Try adding some inside jokes, photos or sexy quips to this year’s Valentine’s candies!
Valentine’s Day may seem commercial and inconvenient at times, but there’s nothing wrong with having a little reminder to keep the romance alive and appreciate the most important person in our lives. You don’t need to give in and spend a lot to have a great Valentine’s Day this year. All you need is a little rosy-cheeked passion, and of course, the one you love.
