We got married in 2014 after a 2.5 year engagement; this gave us plenty of time to dedicate to planning our big day and ensured that we had everything we wanted. We got married in our local church and then we had our reception in a theatre. I trained at Sylvia Young Theatre School when I was younger and Michael & I both have acted in many local productions and murder mysteries together so holding our wedding reception in a theatre was perfect for us.
The theatre became the theme for the wedding; our wedding save the dates were done in the style of theatre tickets and the colour red featured heavily in our day; the bridesmaids dresses were red, the chair covers and table runners were all red and our centre pieces were red feathers in vases with theatrical masks at the bottom. We even continued the theme with our bespoke cake that had a red carpet running down it and a theatrical show stopping cake topper of a couple kissing.
Michael had a beautiful suit with a white waistcoat and a red tie and I had a fitted mermaid style dress with embellishments to add to the drama.
We paid extra to have a Starlight backdrop for the theatre and we also paid extra to have a fairy light backdrop behind the top table. I think when it comes to weddings certainly pays to think about all of the little details.
The most important purchase that we made for our wedding was our wedding rings. We were conscious that whilst our wedding day was just that, our rings would last a lifetime and we spent a long time deciding and choosing the right ones.
We both really loved our wedding day and were so pleased with how all of the details came together; we really did have the perfect theatrical wedding.
