[AD] Why You’re So Bad At Redecorating

Every now and then, you’ll look around your home and think to yourself, ‘something has to change here!’. You just get sick of looking at the same four walls, and all you can think about is the small little things you want to change. Don’t even get us started on the big things you want to change either. But redecorating often costs money, time, and most of the time, you just don’t seem to do it right. If you feel like this, then it’s a common feeling that you share with so many people around the world. But getting that eye for interior design, and knowing what to change around your home is actually not as hard as you might think! With a little bit of practice, and a little bit of guidance from this article, you could be switching up your decor in no time. And what’s even better, most of the tips that we’re going to give you today aren’t exactly going to break the bank, and they’re not that hard to do! If you were looking for something to be done on a bigger scale, then you’re better off visiting websites that will tell you all about the renovations you can do! But for now, let’s talk about why you might be so bad at decorating, and how we can change that for you!

You’ve Never Done It Before

Of course you’re going to be bad at decorating if you’ve never done it before. This is mainly going to apply to those of you who moved into a new build home, or those of you who were lucky enough to find a home that was pretty much exactly the way that you wanted it. You’ve had the easy life up until now, but now it’s time to learn. Decorating really isn’t that hard, especially if you have people around to help you, such as your partner or family. If both of you have never done it before however, then we can see why you’re in a bit of a pickle. To try and get you the skills you need, all you have to do is look, listen, and learn. You wouldn’t believe how many Youtube videos there are for redecorating, which can teach you everything from how to take some wallpaper down, to make sure you have that perfect glossy finish for painting. For all of you who have been used to hiring a painter and decorator up until now, the lazy life is about to leave you. If you know what needs to be changed, have a little go at it after watching a tutorial. It’ll be like a trial and error thing, and if you make a big enough error you can always call in the cavalry to get the job done right. But considering this article is all about getting you to decorate, we suggest you have a couple of tries on your own first!

You Don’t Focus On The Simple Things

Ok, so if you’re fed up with your home, then it can be so easy for you to want to change absolutely everything. You automatically think that you need to have a complete overhaul for your home to look good again. Well, this couldn’t be more wrong. Simply changing the little things can inject a bit of fresh happiness into your home can do the most. The little things in our eyes, are the accessories that you can put into your home, such as new picture frames or wall ornaments can stand out. You can fill the frames with beautiful pictures of memories that you’ve had for the year, and you can actually get some pretty cute wall art to make it pop. We’re not talking about stencils or painting your wall, we’re talking about hanging accessories that look super cool. For example, you can go metal framework clocks that are thin to the wall, but if you were to put it against a white wall, it would look so trendy! Now from the wall, to the floor. Perhaps in your living room you’ve had the same rug for years now, and all of the things that have dropped on it over the years have made it look just a little bit tatty. Now if you Google it, rugs costs next to nothing, and can breathe a breath of fresh air into your room. Go for a nice fluffy one and put it next to the fire, and you’ve instantly made your living room look cosy. Whilst we’re at it, we might as well suggest that you get a nice little coffee table for the room if you don’t have one currently. Oak ones look so lovely!

You Don’t Take Inspiration From Others

If you’ve just never been able to make a room look good, no matter how much you move things around or, or add and remove things, then it could be due to the fact you’ve just never really looked at interior design inspiration before. It’s all well and good reading about it like you are doing today, but if you don’t see it with your own eyes, it can be so hard to visualise what is going to be good for you. But just like with anything in life, there is a whole world of images out there to put you in the right direction. From the interior design blogs that are purely made up of pictures of interior design, to the showrooms in the stores that you can go and visit. All you then have to do is take a little bit of inspiration from one of them, and start piecing together your perfect room! It’s not as hard as you think once you’ve got the eye for it! Plus, it’s a great way to have a look at what you might really like, and what you know isn’t going to suit your home. Everyone has a different idea of what will look good and what won’t, and visualising it before putting it into your home is going to save you a lot of money!

You Try And Do Too Much

If you try and do anything that’s way out of your abilities, then things are obviously going to go wrong. Some people try and tear up floor boards, knock down walls, and just things you wouldn’t imagine because they think it’ll all work out in the end. If you want things to go your way, you should always try and leave the things that have to be done by a professional, to be done by a professional! You don’t want to end up paying more because you think something looks easy to do, but in fact it’s just super hard to do! Stick to the simple things like painting and decorating, and buying the accessories that you can put in your home!

You Do Something Not Suited For Your Home

It’s easy enough to have a vision that just will not work for your home. You might fill it with too many items, or just put the wrong items in it all together. For example, you might like the idea of having a corner sofa, and you might have noticed that it looked great in so many different homes. But you really do have to have the right sized room for it, and the right layout of a room! This applies with other furniture, you don’t want a room to look clunky just because you like the idea of having it in your room!
